Barritz™ was born in Cook County, Illinois just south of Chicago. He was raised in the South Bay Area, California; moving to Da Kronfield in Milpitas just north of San Jose.
Barritz™ was always drawn to a plethora of music, from rap and funk, to Motown, reggae and rock. A connoisseur of beats and lyrics, Barritz™ finds ways to incorporate all parts of the musical spectrum into his work.
Barritz™ eats, sleeps and breathes the West Coast. A musician and entrepreneur, Barritz™ released his debut album, “The Cadillac Man,” a ride through the streets and dreams of the Bay Area early in 2010 on Brainz Blown Recordz™.
Barritz™ has since formed a group of musicians dubbed The Lacz™ who have been working on their self-titled debut album to be released in 2014. Alongside it will be Barritz’™ follow-up project, self-titled as well, released as a double-album entitled “Barritz & The Lacz.”
Barritz™ is influenced by the everyday intricacies of life, the apex and the nadir; and tells stories of The Bay experience. From the daily grind to endless nights at the club, from the vivid imagery of female tales through the journey of life itself, Barritz™ is an analog note in a digital world—one that can never be completely recreated.
It’s been a busy last couple of weeks and I’ve been working hard to finish up the “The Cadillac Man” album for you all… making an album is an interesting experience to say the least… coming up with the idea for a song is such an exhilirating moment of time, and performing live for you all is a rush in itself… it’s the editing that has issues… it is tedious and time-consuming… no worries though… the project is coming soon and will be all that you have been waiting for… thank you for your patience and your understanding…
November 2nd… one day and 5 years after Mac Dre died got my mind fried with too many thoughts so some denied… and now just back from watching Michael Jackson’s “This Is It”… reminds me these talents are not here to share with us any longer, 2Pac… always thoughts of our true leader… Bob Marley… Jimi Hendrix… James Brown… Isaac Hayes… Barry White… there are others… Bruce Lee… I could keep going but why… they are here with us… influencing us still and ’tis our duty to keep their legacy and accomplishments in the forefront of our thoughts… it is there where they shine the brightest and shall be illuminating always…
It makes me remaster my mind to think in perfection as some did incessantly… it is not how fast the product is brought to market, it is not how much money it makes for you, but it is about one thing and one thing only… getting it right… making a product you are proud of… that is honest, true to its maker and expresses the willingness to make something of reputation and adored utility… the true customer will be the one who is there for the product, not because you told them to… because they need it… but you didn’t make it for anybody but yourself… you presented it when appropriate and complete… it is a gift from you to them… but always given to yourself first… the day you follow others is the day you lose yourself…
The B-A-Double R-I-T-Z Pre Release was my second full show production, renting The Cellar again in downtown San Jose, California along with the wireless mics. Show CDs were also created for those in attendance. Performances started at midnight.
It was a bittersweet night as our show was dedicated to EMPera who tragically drowned almost one month prior on Father’s Day June 15, 2008.
I performed “Just Skip” with Deez Dinero with EMPera’s verse blaring through the loudspeakers, “Flossy” with Swizzle & Deez Dinero, “Livin’ To Die” with Attilary & Swoona with EMPera’s voice posthumously preaching, and “Watch Out There” with MysterE.
The vibe was amazing, the crowd was lively and the show was a success. In hindsight it was a moment of change for me, a great influence of mine was gone, his creative talents were no more, and a friend was lost. Rest In Peace Roy.
